 1. Lydia Ortiz 2. Zim & Zou  3. Mike Winkelmann  4. Jinhwa Jang 5. Beeple  Lydia Ortiz uses repetition and flat-colored shapes to create a balanced composition. She uses simple color and forms to create her forms while other artists take naturalism up a notch further. Jinhwa Jang's style is similar but she's leaning more towards a futuristic looking pop art style. Beeple and Mike has a super naturalistic style although they are also whimsical in the context and content of what visual they are creating. Zim & Zou is also leaning towards a realistic style, and their works almost look like a commercial photograph of an object.

Journal Entry 8/30/24 Ulrich Museum Opening

Image
Ulrich Museum Opening The art pieces at the Ulrich Opening this year was really diverse and fascinating. I was really impress with the variety of medias used. One piece that really caught my eye is Ornithology J by J.C. Fontanive. Created in 2018, this piece is made with a 4 color screen print on Bristol paper and propelled to flip with stainless steel motor and electronics. It really blew me away the creativity of technology being used in this way. The way that the electronics was created in a way that made the numerous of pieces flip to sort of mimic the motion of different birds constantly in flight was really cool, unique, and visually attractive. I would love to someday learn how this piece was created and use some inspiration from it to create works of my own.  Sources of pics: https://jfontanive.com/ornithology-j-l-m/

Collage #1 Source: https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2018/06/giant-humans-overtake-landscapes-in-guillaume-chirons-clever-collages/  I think this collage is really creative and cohesive with the presence of the guy mopping up a pile of cars. It fits together really well, and the color scheme is also cool with its vintage aesthetic.  Collage #2 Source:  Pin page (pinterest.com) I like the warm and cool colors in this. The design seems kind of chaotic but in a way where I can tell it's on purpose. I also like the little doodles and the writing. It just seems artistic overall. Collage #3 Source:  credits to @zombiesh1t on ig / pin / tt (pinterest.com) I like that this is just kind of bizarre and strong. It reminds me of early 2000s, Japanese magazines style spread. It reads to me as y2k sort of style, and I love it.  Collage #4 Source:  Pin page (pinterest.com) Style is kind of similar to the previous collage. This one has more technology and kind of ...

First Journal Entry 8/20

My name is Dao Tang, and this is my first blogger journal entry for Digital Studios. My goal in Digital Studio is to become more adapted to digital software such as Photoshop and such. I don't usually use adobe programs for any personal projects though I think having more knowledge of what they could be used for could only be helpful for me as a BFA Art Studio student.
